Drywall: A Lot Easier
Drywall or plaster? The latter being used a long time ago and the former which is now the trend in finishing interiors of almost any type of structures, be it a home, school or office. Drywall is easier to use than a plaster.
To properly guide you on how to hang drywall follow the step-by-step drywall tips for your convenience:
- Make sure you will have at least one (1) companion in hanging drywall because it is quite heavy especially if a woman is going to do it;
- You can layout or draft the plan of the structure you are planning to hang the drywall so that you have an overview of how the outcome will look like;
- Measure the portion you are going to hang the drywall, first your ceiling. Cut the drywall in a size from the corner of your ceiling vertical to the beam so that you will be able to determine the end of the first panel;
- After measuring and cutting drywall, you are now ready to cover your ceiling. Through the help of your companion, elevate the first panel in the one corner of the ceiling. The border should be vertical to the beam and the other end should be fixed to the wall. While holding the panel, screw it evenly to look structured. Continue doing it until the whole ceiling is now covered. However, before covering your electrical socket or your electrical box make sure to measure the size of the socket or the box and mark it in the drywall;
- Cut the drywall around the mark and once it is finished, drill the remaining screws into the panel;
- You are now done with your ceiling, next is your wall. Again measure your wall by starting at the corner for the first panel until you landed on the last panel of the first side of the wall. Cut the panel. Again with the help of your companion, elevate the first panel, make sure that one edge is fixed against the ceiling panel and the other end fixed in the adjoining wall. To screw your drywall for your wall, screw it in line with the screw on your ceiling to make it look organized. Continue hanging the panels to the rest of the walls and follow the same steps;
- With your window and door openings, measure them and mark the drywall, cut the drywall before hanging them. Make sure that it is properly measured and proportionately cut; and finally
- Check if there are screws sticking out. If there are sticking out screws drill them slowly until they are aligned with other screws. Clean the room and remove all the scraps left. You are now ready for the finishing.
